Poro Beach

The Philippines is blessed with 7,107 islands with numerous beach that everyone can enjoy. Summer is almost over, did you ever got a chance to do beach bumming? How far can you go to see the beautiful beaches God made for you?

When you're stressed out, tired with the city life - beach is your best friend. Who never enjoys beach anyway? You might need to travel for hours but everything will surely worth it.

Just a few days ago our family decided to go our home town - BICOL. I lived there for almost all my life,  but never heard that there is/are such a beauty waiting to be discovered, welcoming people with its crystal sparkles and embracing the land with its peaceful life.

Poro Beach - Bahao, Libmanan Camarines Sur
So here we go - welcome to Poro Beach. This is located at Bahao, Libmanan Camarines Sur. Indeed a beautiful creation. Locals call it Poro which means end (dulo) while others call it Calabanig or Tres Marias.

Crystal clear water
The water is so clear that you can see what lies underneath. Fishes, corals and stones that sparkle when hit by light of the sun. Never expect too much about its sand - it is far from powder which most people love. The shore is made up of a small amount of sand, too much dead corals - which hurts when you don't wear aqua shoes or slippers. Don't mind the shore - the water is perfect.

Rocks at the right side of the beach

How to get there:

From Manila

1. Ride a bus going to NAGA at Alimall Bus Station
2. Ask the driver to drop you off at San Isidro, Libmanan Camarines Sur
3. Ride a habal-habal or motorcycle going to Bahao - ask to drop you at the market
4. Ride a boat going to Poro beach

Expenses (one way/head):
1. Manila to San Isidro (Aircon Bus) - 700.00
2. San Isidro to Bahao - 300.00
3. Boat to Poro - 120.00
TOTAL: 1,020.00

Buy your food at the Bahao Market, there is only one store at the Poro Beach with limited items. You sure don't want to starve in there. There are cottages for rent which cost 300 pesos. You can also use their CR with 10 pesos fee. The electricity supply is available.

Better visit it while it is still not yet commercialized and while it is not known to everyone - yet. Enjoy the beach, the water, the view and be careful with some water snakes.

Have fun!
